The Prosperity mill, located in what is now a gated community between The Beast and Carambola Resort, is severely degraded, as can be seen in this satellite view from 2006, half or the mill is missing.

West End

Estate Prosperity in West End Quarter, plot 36, was one of the earliest estates on St Croix, showing an animal mill on the Beck map of 1754. The 1778 Oxholm map shows a windmill in the center of the estate. Once a very large estate, the remaining 180 acres now operates as Prosperity Farm Distillery, a working farm to bottle distillery and destination location. Unlike Danish colonial estates where the primary focus was on producing sugar, and rum was a side product, fermented from the molasses, Prosperity Farm grows and harvests sugar cane, crushing the cane and fermenting the cane juice to produce Gins.
